One of our members wrote the following poem, published it, and then donated it to the Society. It is yours in turn for a small donation on your part. SIGNED AND NUMBERED Thank you Suzy Kauczka.
ITS BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE WE HEARD THE ROAR
OF THE PHANTOM ENGINES GETTING READY TO SOAR
ON THE RUNWAY READY AFTERBURNERS ALIGHT
THE THRUST OF THE ENGINES THE GOLDEN FLAME SO BRIGHT
THE PHANTOM WAS FEARLESS ALL YOU MIGS BEWARE
YOUR NUMBER WAS UP WHEN THEY WERE IN THE AIR
AS THEY FLEW ABOVE ALL TO SERVE AND PROTECT
WE MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER AND NEVER FORGET
THE BRAVE SOULS WHO WERE LOST AND DIDN'T COME HOME
THEY ARE WITH THE LORD NOW EVER MORE TO ROAM
IT TOOK MORE THAN A PILOT TO KEEP THE BIRDS IN THE AIR
CREW CHIEFS, SPECIALIST AND WEAPONS LOADERS WHO CARED
WORKING 24/7 SOMETIMES WITH NO REST
HATS OFF TO THEM ALL THEY WERE THE BEST OF THE BEST
ALL WE HAVE NOW ARE MEMORIES OF THAT BEAUTIFUL PLANE
FOR THE PHEARLESS PHANTOM WILL NEVER FLY AGAIN
